Zoo Kingdom

I began work on Zoo Kingdom not long after World of Zoo shipped. We went through a lot of different prototypes before settling on a design that worked for us. For all of us on the project, it was our first Facebook game, so there was a lot of discovery involved, and learning from mistakes.

The game was successful enough, though, that we continued to support it right up until Blue Fang closed its doors.

Animal breeding was the last major feature release for ZK. It was extraordinarily successful, and can single-handedly account for the player retention that we had long after regular updates had ceased.

Keeper Care was a way for players to deal with all of the plants, buildings, and trash in their zoos with one click, in exchange for sacrificing some of the money earned by doing so. Players were more likely to come back when caring for their zoos went from a 10-minute task to a 1-minute task.
